The Umass Minutewomen’s softball team released its fall schedule for the 2013 season, which included an updated schedule for the Annual Alumni Weekend. The Alumni Weekend is set to consist of a banquet on Friday October 11th, a golf tournament on Saturday October 12th and the Alumni game on Sunday October 13th at 10am which will be highlighted by the celebration of life for Elaine Sortino on Sunday at 1pm in the Mullins Center. The official beginning of the season starts Saturday September 21st when they will be hosting Bryant. The following week on Sunday September 29th Quinnipiac will be coming to Amherst for a doubleheader. October 5th the Minutewomen will face off against Sacred Heart and then Boston College the following day on October 6th. All games with the exception of Boston College will be double headers that start at noon.The Annual Softball Banquet will head off Alumni Weekend on Friday October 12th. The event will be a chance for interim head coach Kristi Stefanoni along with her staff and friends of the program to give recognition to the 2013 senoir class of Teea Rogers, Cyndil Matthew, Katie Bettencourt and Christine Della Vecchia. It will be held in the Amherst room on the tenth floor of the campus center. It begins at 6:30pm and tickets are $35. Saturday will host the Annual Golf Scramble at Pine Grove Golf Club in Northampton. It begins at 9:30am and the $125 cost comes with 18 holes of golf, a cart, dinner, snacks, gifts and a tax donation. Finally Sunday at 11am the Alumni game will be played at Sortino Field. The event is open to the public and all Umass Softball alums are encouraged to take part in the event.
