Minutewomen’s Field Hockey is Still Undefeated

The Umass Minutewomen’s field hockey team has maintained thier winning streak by defeating Boston College at Garber Field on Sunday afternoon. The Minutewomen had a two goal lead early in the game from back to back tallies from Brooke Sabia and Lindsay Bowman. Sabia scored a little over twelve minutes into the game, and teamate Bowman scored seven minutes later. Returning from half time the Boston College Eagles answered the two scores with two of their own by Emma Plasteras and Emily McCoy. This left the game tied 2-2. However less than five minutes later, Molly MacDonnell of the Minutewomen dribbled up the sideline to eventually score. With a little over six minutes left in the game Sabia scored her second goal of the game and her seventh of the season helping her to finish off the week with a total of ten points on five goals over three games played. Although Boston College lead in shots (24-18) and penalty corners (12-8) it was not enough to beat the currently undefeated 5-0 Minutewomen. Goalkeeper Sam Carlino played her part providing nine saves. Marijose Rodriguez and Lauren Allymohamal each had one defensive stop and Leah Settipane finished with six stops against four goals allowed. Izzie Delario, Hannah price, Mel Sutherland and Charolotte Verelst were all each given credit for one assist. The undefeated Umass Minutewomen will be hitting the road to participate in the Syracuse Univer4sity Invitational from September fourteenth to the fifteenth. They will play Orange, who is fifth ranked nationally on Friday, and then move on to Ohio State on Saturday.
